Reggae Sumfest 2011 Dancehall Night
The last time I went to Reggae Sumfest was in 2002 when I was 16. When I saw the line up for this year's Dancehall Night, I knew I just had to be there. For those who don't know, Vybez Kartel cannot come to the US to perform, but he was the closing act for this year's show. Everyone that knows me knows that I am one of Kartel's BIGGEST fans. The line up included Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, I-Octane, Assassin, Elephant Man, Aidonia, Kip Rich, Konshens, Spice, Cecile, Khago, Tifa, Jah Vinchi, Fambo, Laden, Seanizzle, and Toya.
My favorite performances were Kartel, Assassin, Khago, and I-Octane. We got there at about 11pm and left at around 7am, daylight. By the time Kartel came out to perform I was dead tired and could barely dance. I think I-Octane took the night. During his performance, the crowd lit cardboard on fire in the middle of the crowd that lit up the sky. People set off fireworks.....madness and mayhem!!!!! It was fabulous. As tired as we were, we all enjoyed ourselves. We all slept like babies on the way home because the drive from Montego Bay to Negril is about an hour.
