Southern Comfort Brooklyn Style

On Friday, my best friend Denise and I went to Soco in Brooklyn, NY.  Soco is a fairly new restaurant that was opened by the owners of Negril Village, which happens to be my favorite restaurant in NYC. When I got the newsletter that Soco was opening up, I just had to go. The restaurant is not as large as Negril Village and the menu isn't as extensive, but I liked it anyway.  It has a very nice atmosphere, very young and trendy. For my appetizer, I had Nora's Steamed Mussels. For my entree, I had Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a side of cornbread. My friend Denise had Carolina Rolls for her appetizer. For her entree, she had Molasses Braised Short Ribs also with a side of cornbread. Our food was beyond delicious!!!! We were having this long, in-depth conversation that came to a complete halt when we tasted our food. If I wasn't going on vacation this summer, I would definitely be chowing down at Soco every week. The prices are fairly decent; the bill came to $100 for the 2 of us, which is standard New York.

More information can be found at www.socobk.com for the location and the menu.

  2. It is a red velvet waffle lol that's what made me want to try the restaurant in the first place. I had too much food to eat, but the waffle was delicious for breakfast the next morning.
